Easy Does It Pop-Up Art Show
June 18-19 & 25-26, 2021
Albany, Texas
Easy Does It Pop-Up Art Show was the inaugural exhibition organized by FLAT PACK. Installed in a retrofitted shipping container just south of the courthouse lawn in Albany, Texas, this exhibit showcased two emerging Texas artists and allowed visitors an opportunity to connect with art in a non-traditional, welcoming space. Easy Does It was held the last two weekends in June 2021, coinciding with the 83rd performance of Albany's historic Fort Griffin Fandangle, an annual musical pageant that is performed and produced by over 250 citizens/actors and held at dusk on the outdoor Prairie Theater.
The exhibition featured works by Austin-based artist Calhan Hale and Dallas-based artist George Kelly (an Albany native). Both artists explore the different narratives and experiences that fall within the broadly interpreted idea of being “Texan.”
